Hi,
Another startupscreen for the collection, and all you PowerMac
owners...
Like the others, it's a 16", so if you want it in other sizes, use
something like Photoshop or Thorsten Lemke's GraphicConverter 1.7.8 to
scale it to your screen. (I'm not going to re-render this one!)
It is an oblique view of the words "Welcome to Power Macintosh" in
large mirrored text.
For those who want to know, "welcome to" is in Apple Garamond, the
rest in Bauhaus Heavy (like previous screens).
There are various company logos (Apple, IBM, Motorola) around the
text, some in the background, and some reflected in the main text.
Underneath it all is an infinite plane covered in Apple Logos (a bit
clichéd I know!)
Overall the picture is very colourful, though I think it's a bit over
the top! Definitely prettier than the default one though!
Again, done in Specular Infini-D 2.5.1.
To those who have asked, this is saved as a startupscreen, so dump it
in your system folder and when you restart, it will appear instead of
the "welcome to macintosh" screen and your extensions will load over
the top of it.
Otherwise, it is a PICT resource file so most graphics apps will open
it (Photoshop, GraphicConverter, GIFConverter…).
This took 3.5 hours to render on my 840AV, and a further 15.25 to
anti-alias, so don't believe what anyone says about rendering taking a
long time!
I think I'll have to clock chip my Mac to save a bit of time! (maybe
get an 8100??? Hang on, I'm a poor student!)
I have to say that the anti aliasing is VERY good in Infini-D (if it
wasn't, I'd turn it off!), though I'm not so enthusiastic about the
modelling tools; maybe not splines, but could we have binary
operations please? Ye Olde CAD 3D on the Atari ST had that (it could
also produce stereo images for use with LCD shutter glasses a la
SGI!).
The ability to suspend rendering and return to it later would be nice
(OK, Backburner, I know...)
I'd like receive any comments or suggestions you have…

PS, dear Pacific Hi-tech,
Please feel free to stick this image and others I have done on your
next CD (Jan 94 issue was good), but keep the readmes with them, and
yes, I'd love a copy!
